Christmas embroidered patches are one of the simplest ways to bring holiday cheer to things you already own. A small stitched gnome, Santa or holly bell can turn a plain sweater, stocking or tote bag into something festive, and it only takes a few minutes with an iron or a needle and thread. Here are seven ideas to get you started, all using patches from our Christmas patch collection.
1. Dress up a plain sweater
Place one patch on the chest or sleeve of a cozy knit or sweatshirt. The Christmas Gnome with Polka Dot Hat Patch is a charming pick for an instant ugly-cute holiday sweater. For knits, we recommend sewing the patch on instead of ironing, as shown in our hand-stitch guide.
2. Personalize Christmas stockings
Add a different patch to each family member's stocking so everyone can find theirs. The Christmas Stockings Mantel Patch and Christmas Holly Bell Patch look great on felt or cotton stockings.
3. Decorate a holiday tote bag
A canvas tote with a Santa with Poinsettia Patch makes a lovely reusable gift bag or shopping bag for holiday markets.
4. Top your gift wrap
Skip the plastic bow. Sew or glue a small patch like the Snowman with Poinsettia Hat Patch onto kraft paper or a fabric gift pouch, and the recipient can reuse the patch on a jacket or bag afterward.
5. Refresh a denim jacket for holiday parties
Add one small festive patch next to your existing collection, such as the Christmas Tree Lights Patch. For more layout ideas, see our denim jacket patch ideas.
6. Make homemade ornaments
Glue a patch to a felt circle or wooden slice, add a loop of ribbon, and hang it on the tree. It is a quick craft that kids can help with.
7. Give patches as stocking stuffers
Our Christmas patches are priced well under $10, so a few in a stocking make a thoughtful, low-cost gift. For more budget ideas, read our Christmas gift ideas under $10.
How to apply your patches
For cotton, denim and canvas, an iron works well: use a medium-high heat setting without steam, cover the patch with a thin cloth, press for 30 to 45 seconds and let it cool. Our iron-on guide has the full steps. For knits, felt and delicate fabrics, sew the edges with a few small stitches.
Order early for Christmas
All our patches are made to order and ship worldwide from our studio, with delivery usually in 10 to 17 business days after processing, so we suggest ordering early. Browse the full Christmas embroidered patches collection to find your favorites.
